New York Fashion Week 2026 takes over New York City in September, with the official CFDA schedule running September 10 through 15 and Fashion Week events beginning even earlier. At Rockefeller Center, NYFW programming runs September 9 through 15, giving the public a way to experience the week through runway livestreams presented by Genesys, watch parties, shopping activations, and more.

The September shows present Spring/Summer 2027 collections and kick off the international fashion calendar before London, Milan, and Paris. While many of the biggest runway shows remain invitation-only, there are more ways than ever to follow New York Fashion Week without an industry credential — from publicly ticketed fashion shows to free screenings at Rockefeller Center.

Here’s what to know about the NYFW 2026 dates, New York Fashion Week tickets, designers to watch, and where to see the shows.

When Is New York Fashion Week 2026?

The Council of Fashion Designers of America, or CFDA, owns and organizes the Official NYFW Schedule. In 2026, the official calendar runs Thursday, September 10 through Tuesday, September 15. The preliminary schedule opens with Henry Zankov’s debut collection as artistic director of Diane von Furstenberg and closes with Thom Browne.

Fashion Week activity starts before the official calendar, however. Rockefeller Center’s NYFW programming begins September 9, and several designers and events around New York City also take place ahead of the CFDA opening.

The collections shown this September are for Spring/Summer 2027. Spring/Summer 2026 appeared during last September’s Fashion Week, while Fall/Winter 2026 collections were shown in February.

How to Get New York Fashion Week Tickets

There isn’t one central ticket office for New York Fashion Week.

Most shows on the official CFDA calendar operate through designer invitation lists, press credentials, and brand-directed access rather than general admission. Public NYFW tickets usually apply to independently produced runway shows, galas, or special Fashion Week experiences.

Runway 7 is one of the most established public-facing options. Its 2026 shows run September 8 through 13 at Sony Hall, with tickets sold by date, showtime, and seating category. Expect a mix of emerging designers, international labels, streetwear, womenswear, and eveningwear.

Other publicly ticketed fashion events include The Bureau Fashion Week, hiTechMODA, Art Hearts Fashion, and SMGlobal Catwalk. For a fuller breakdown of public events and ticket options, see Rockefeller Center’s guide to New York Fashion Week events.

One rule is worth remembering: a ticket to a Fashion Week event is not automatically a ticket to an official CFDA designer show. Buy directly from the event organizer and check whether your ticket is general admission, reserved seating, front row, or VIP before checkout.

The Designers to Watch at New York Fashion Week 2026

This season brings together major American fashion houses, established New York labels, and newer designers shaping the next generation of the industry.

The official calendar includes names such as Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, Tommy Hilfiger, Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung, Altuzarra, Simkhai, Monse, Wiederhoeft, and Thom Browne.

One particularly notable moment comes at the beginning of the official schedule: Henry Zankov presents his debut collection as artistic director of Diane von Furstenberg. Thom Browne closes the official calendar on September 15.

Ralph Lauren is also part of the broader September Fashion Week conversation, though his presentation falls outside the official September 10–15 CFDA window.

How to Watch New York Fashion Week Without a Ticket

You don’t need a front-row invitation to see the runway.

At Rockefeller Center, Fashion Week programming includes livestreamed runway shows at The Rink, presented by Genesys, along with watch parties celebrating some of the week’s most anticipated shows. The point is to make the week watchable. No credential, no invitation — just show up at The Rink.

That makes Rockefeller Center one of the easiest places to catch NYFW in person without buying a ticket: watch participating designer shows on the large outdoor screen, and take in the Fashion Week crowd around the Plaza.

Street Style and the Front Row

Fashion Week’s other runway is the sidewalk.

Because NYFW now takes place across multiple venues rather than a single central tent, there is no single official street-style destination. Photographers tend to gather outside runway show venues before and after presentations, when editors, buyers, celebrities, stylists, influencers, and other guests arrive and leave.

The front row may generate the celebrity photographs, but the street-style crowd often provides a more immediate look at how trends are actually being worn.

If seeing the scene is your priority, check the official NYFW schedule, identify a major show venue, and arrive around the scheduled start or finish time rather than simply heading to one particular neighborhood.

What to Wear to New York Fashion Week

There is no universal New York Fashion Week dress code.

For most visitors, the most useful rule is to wear something that feels intentional without sacrificing practicality. September in New York can shift from warm afternoons to cooler evenings, and Fashion Week often involves more walking than expected.

Comfortable shoes and layers help. A statement coat, unusual bag, distinctive shoe, or other strong piece can give an outfit personality without requiring a full head-to-toe runway look.

The Gap tote

NYFW programming at Rockefeller Center goes beyond the livestream.

Gap takes over the Channel Gardens for a Fashion Week pop-up centered on GapBag and the Five-Pocket Tote, designed under Reed Krakoff, Executive Director of Accessories at Gap Inc. The tote draws on Gap denim details such as belt loops, denim hardware, and five-pocket stitching.

The September 10 launch is reserved for media, VIPs, and eligible early-access guests. The pop-up is open to the public September 11 through 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Channel Gardens.

Visitors can shop the Five-Pocket Tote in multiple sizes and washes and customize their bags with chainstitch personalization, limited-edition charms, and accessories. Limited-edition totes customized by New York artist FAUST and British visual artist Shantell Martin will also drop throughout the activation.

Rockefeller Center’s broader Fashion Week programming also includes Sally Hansen, in addition to the CFDA livestreaming and Gap activation.
