Girl And Goose

Robert Laurent

American, born France. 1890 - 1970

First mezzanine

This cast aluminum statue is one of three nudes that, amazingly, created a controversy when it was first installed. Graceful and reserved, the girl and goose reflect man and nature, the simple life. The piece is set against a tinted mirrored wall, reflecting the back of the pale gray aluminum sculpture in warm tones of golden brown. The subject matter actually has nothing to do with stage business and is unique for a theater setting, but Radio City Music Hall designer Donald Deskey was hoping to offer visitors an enriching cultural experience in an easygoing ambience.
